Grandma's rolls

IngredientsGrandmas rolls 300x206

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ¾ cup shortening
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 pkg dry yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 6 cups of plain flour - 2 cups at a time

Preparation:

  • Flour for kneading
  • 1 stick of melted butter

Instructions

  1. Mix together boiling water, shortening, sugar, and salt. Set aside to let cool (at least 15 minutes).
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together dry yeast and lukewarm water. Add to above mixture once it has cooled.
  3. Then add, beaten eggs and flour. Add in the flour 2 cups at a time.
  4. Place in fridge overnight or at least 6 hours.
  5. Remove from fridge, knead with flour to get the dough from being sticky.
  6. Roll out to about ½” to ¾ inch thick then using a biscuit cutter cut out the dough. Continue kneading and cutting til all the dough is gone.
  7. Dip in butter and fold into pan. Pour the rest of butter over top of all rolls, let sit for 2-3 hours til risen.
